CALLS FOR ACTION
RALLY!
Lancaster First has announced they are holding a rally tomorrow starting at 11:30 a.m. at Mulberry Art Studios and proceeding downtown with signs and placards voicing disapproval of the Convention Center Project. Call April Koppenhaver for more information, 295-1949, and don’t forget the gloves and mittens!
TELL THEM HOW YOU FEEL
Lancaster First is also asking you to please attend a special meeting of the Lancaster County Commissioners at the Farm and Home Center, 1383 Arcadia Road (off the Manheim Pike at Route 30) tomorrow evening at 7:30 p.m. There will be specific time for public comment and you can let the Commissioners know how you feel about the Convention Center. Lancaster First’s website is here.
DISTURBING AND DANGEROUS
There is an extremely disturbing and dangerous trend on Talkback led by two posters who I believe are actually one and the same person. In the next few days I am going to detail some of their posts because even though what they say is absurd, with no basis in fact, they post so often and repeatedly that some people are actually beginning to be influenced by them. Ron Harper has apparently been caught up in it as this is his editor’s note under his currently running series on Judge Hummer and a custody dispute: "Every time that a woman is allowed to file false and bogus Protection from Abuse orders and violations of the same, real domestic violence is not taken seriously by the thousands of people who have witnessed or been a victim to the false ones." (http://5thestate.com/051025.htm)
THREE EXTREMELY SERIOUS CASES IN FIVE DAYS
I don’t have any idea where he came up with “thousands of people who have witnessed or been a victim to the false ones” - but it is inflammatory and dangerous and has no basis in fact. There are currently three serious domestic violence cases in the news, “Shooting death in city” (here) from last week and today’s Intell has these two, “Leola man sentenced to 3-6 years for PFA violations” (here) and “Annville man charged in assault in Rapho Twp” (here) .
There will be much more on this dangerous situation during the week.

STOP THE LCCCA!
Please go to www.5thestate.com, www.lookingatlancaster.com and this Sunday News article and the Talkback below it. April Koppenhaver is having a Lancaster First meeting today at 1:00 a.m. at Mulberry Art Studios, 19-21 N. Mulberry St., to answer questions regarding the Convention Center. Please try to attend. The above button was designed by a Talkbacker and is available here.

INVESTIGATE THE LCCCA!
“From 1999 through September 2005, more than $17 million has poured into the authority’s coffers through a tax levied on county hotel rooms, according to county treasurer Craig Ebersole. But that level of income is not enough to pay all of its expenses, and it has finished in the red every year, according to published reports.”
“Center Authority spending questioned,” yesterday’s New Era (The article is here. )
This is beyond outrageous. This is criminal. MaryAnne Motter Cullen, who exposed the School District of Lancaster scandal, posted under this article urging everyone to contact the PA Auditor General Office of Special Investigations. Investigate the LCCCA. Please call (717) 787-4548.
April Koppenhaver of Lancaster First is inviting you to meet with concerned citizens tomorrow at Mulberry Art Studios at 1:00 p.m. for a question and answer session about the Convention Center Project. The studios are at 19-21 North Mulberry Street. Please attend. This is urgent.

INVESTIGATE THE LCCCA. STOP THE MADNESS!!!
~ To Hawkes & Howell ~
SAY GOODBYE!
“I want to say goodbye to the divisiveness. I want to say goodbye to self-destruction. I want to say goodbye to the lawyers.”
“It’s time to be more decisive, less divisive,” Jeff Hawkes, yesterday's Intell. (Click here for the article.)
I want to say goodbye to you, Jeff. I received several emails asking me to, “give him your two cents.” I’m not sure if they meant Jeff or Jack Howell, president of the Lancaster Alliance, who is quoted in the article, so I’ll give them both my two cents and a little extra for the holiday season.
SABOTEURS
Jeff, you’re nuts. The good Doctor Fraud has already diagnosed you as a psychopath. Let’s not discuss your “Dr. Evil” piece or your “Whack-a-Mole song” column which forced me to buy expensive tranquilizers and had me so disturbed I couldn’t even type a word about it for fear of relapsing. And now this. He calls the county commissioners “saboteurs.” He cries about the divisiveness over the convention center. And then the crackpot quotes Howell who thinks we need to hire yet another consultant to “teach us how to engage in shared decision making and avoid the pitfalls that lead to a divided community.”
CONVINCE ARTIE?
How is this consultant going to do that, Jack and Jeff? Go door to door through the city? Write a column in the newspaper (maybe he or she could take your place, Jeff)? Take a bull-horn to Penn Square? Or is he or she going to sit on Artie See’s doorstep for one year trying to convince Artie that taxpayer dollars are not being misused?
JUST SAY “NAY” TO THE MISUSE OF TAXPAYER DOLLARS
Then Hawkes has the nerve to quote Howell as follows, “Lancaster city and county are littered with examples of bad public discourse where people think decisions are made without them, where proponents and naysayers pack public meetings and perform scripted three-minute speeches greeted by booing or applause.” Boo to you, Jack. Boo. Artie, he used the “naysayer” word. Go get him. I think anyone who “packs a public meeting” should be ejected immediately. And I think anyone responsible for “bad public discourse” should raise their hand and be sent to a corner with a book on public speaking. And anyone who thinks any decisions by the PSP and LCCCA were made without their knowledge should also raise their hand and they can be sent to live in York.
GRINCHES
Here’s something for you to huff, puff and groan about, Jeff. Your employer is receiving $7.8 million for a building valued at $1.3 million. Part of the six and a half million difference was for Holiday decorations. And today we find out, “No Christmas trees, no Christmas trees.” This story is beyond belief and I will just provide this link so you can read it and the excellent Talkback below it.
GOODBYE
I say goodbye to Jeff. I say goodbye to Jack. The city will be less divisive without either one of you.
PLEASE CHECK BACK THIS WEEKEND FOR A LOOK AT “SHOOTING DEATH IN CITY.”
*** BREAKING NEWS ***
The rally scheduled for today by Lancaster First beginning at Mulberry Art Studios has been rescheduled. There will be a meeting Thursday, December 8th at 11:30 a.m. at the Studios.
*** BREAKING NEWS ***
What a howl! David Kirk, the PR Guy for Penn Square Partners (click here), has numerous T-shirts, hats, mugs, buttons and magnets on CaféPress that say “Start the Convention Center Project.” (click here. ) Good luck, David. I hope you didn’t have too many made up. They're really ugly. If the PSP has to make their money this way, boy are they in trouble. No wonder there are no Christmas trees on the Watt & Shand Building! Buy a button instead. (click here.)
