I first put PSP President Nevin Cooley on the train out of Lancaster in July of last year. It is still on the front page of the original LIP News website. This is what I wrote:
“PUT NEVIN D. COOLEY ON THE NEXT TRAIN OUT OF LANCASTER!!!
This morning I ran Nevin Cooley’s quote about the mayor (below) and I was going to write about Mayor Smithgall and cable theft and the District Attorney and the Lancaster Newspapers and the Penn Square Partners. I will do that tomorrow. I would like to point out Cooley’s quote from yesterday’s New Era article, ‘Partners refuse to help fill $5M gap’ – ‘The public sector still has things they can do to create more money for the project. Look under every stone.’ The next train, Cooley…”
$25 MILLION GAP
That was a $5 million dollar gap and he said the public should pay it. Now, in an email dated May 23, 2006, he says the following about what he says is a $25 million gap:
“We acknowledge, without hesitation, that the gap between project budget estimates and the apparent low bids is a substantial $25 million. We want you to know we are fully committed to seeing this process through to its conclusion. We are working diligently, appropriately and professionally to reduce or eliminate that gap. We hope that Mrs. Henderson will see fit to ‘seriously reconsider’ her position, which seeks to disrupt that process.”
Put Cooley on the next train out of Lancaster. Seriously, this man should be run out of town.

And the County has, minimally, frozen $42 million in construction funds. Instead of being a rational representative of the people who elected you and depend on your good judgment, you cheaply disparage the County Commissioners for acting their conscience and continue to stupidly and short-sightedly support this project. I am a democrat and I will never vote for you, and will explain to anyone who asks exactly why. You are a political invertebrate. No wonder you and Gib get along so well.”
JUST PLAIN STUPID
“Look at this mess. Only the lawyers are making money. The taxpayers, as usual, are the losers. All this money from the hotel room tax could have been used for a million other purposes that could have benefited taxpayers, not lawyers or a select few people like Dave Hixson. Why are we always an after thought? A convention center in Lancaster is just plain stupid. Shut it down now and don't spend another dime of my money.”

“PSP and the rest of you band of thieves {including mayor Gray and council}have shown the darker side of local government, to the embarrassment of the fine people of Lancaster city and county. Put to vote this would have sunk faster than the Titanic. If this project was financially sound with minimal risk to the taxpayer you would have built it already. Sorry my fellow posters but I just had to vent.”
WHAT HAVE YOU DONE?
“Mayor Gray, what have YOU done to protect City taxpayers? You've done nothing to help City taxpayers avoid a potential major tax increase to guarantee a "PRIVATE" project, in fact you have encouraged your own City Council to increase one of these guarantees from $12 million to $14 million PLUS INTEREST.”

“Supporters of this project cannot make a factual or logical argument for it. All of the evidence points to failure. Mike Sturla has become morally bankrupt and for him to continue the myth that we don't want development in Lancaster is offensive.”

I have created a monster. The LOL Boss has now hired a marketing firm! What’s next? TV appearances and rides on the “Girls Gone Wild” bus? Not satisfied with being a super jerk on the job, he is now trying to be a world class jerk! Who knew he had this in him? Once a mild mannered, retiring type he is now throwing his weight around as a super jerk!
