GO, LOIS, GO!
Congratulations to Lois Herr on her amazing 90% win in the Intell “People Poll” over Joe (he’s the pits!) Pitts. And the Intell endorsed her this morning. Wow! Go, Lois, go!
Regarding the poll, I called Ray Shaw, editor of the Intell, again on Friday afternoon. He said the poll is done by an independent firm but could not name them. He said the last vote from the same number is the one that gets counted. When I asked him about the software he said he didn’t know and told me to contact Palmer Brown, known as the “LOL Boss” on their Talkback forum.
Palmer was extremely nice. He also said it was handled by a separate firm but did not name them. He said votes from duplicate numbers, blocked numbers and non-published numbers are not counted. He said it is the first call from a given number that counts. He said Shaw was mistaken in saying it was the last duplicate call.
He said it’s obviously not scientific because people can call from their “land” phone, cell phone, work number, etc.
That all means that Herr really did pull off an incredible feat and that I only voted once. That’s correct. I only ever called the number from my cell phone.
On a poll as important as this one and this close to election day, the Intell should include that information in their poll. There is no reason to call from an unpublished number. The first call from a duplicate is the one that counts. Those are very important facts. I called and voted for both to make sure everything was exactly the same. Happily, my first vote was for Herr.

A 9-1 WIN is huge. Obviously, all the Rethugs have to do is get their zombie voters to trudge to the polls and their sheer numbers can defeat us. But as jpol noted, this district is changing. Plus, not only is this race 'flying under the radar,' but for ten years Pitts himself has 'flown under the radar.' The past few months some of his absurdly extremist views have been exposed in the local press and many decent conservatives may be seeing for the first time how whacko-right Pitts really is.
It is a huge, huge win! The Republicans could only get 110 people to vote over the course of two days? That’s just down right embarrassing.

90% for Lois Herr over 10% for Joe (he’s the pits) Pitts! That is truly amazing! The Intell is now referring to their poll as “unscientific.” What a hoot! I will wrap this up on Monday. I’m still a little shaky from my conversation with the “Teflon Don!” Oh, be still my heart!

I talk to Intell editor Ray Shaw again about the Herr/Pitts poll and he sends me to the LOL Boss/Czar (gasp!). I get to speak to the “Teflon Don” himself! And I have to apologize? Say What? Well, the Intell “People Poll” is still going on with a front page tease for it – so vote early and often for your candidate of choice. The poll reads:

Democrat Lois Herr is challenging incumbent Congressman Joe Pitts for the 16th District seat that encompasses all of Lancaster County and parts of Chester and Berks Counties.
For whom will you vote in the 16th Congressional District race?

* Press 2# to vote for Joe Pitts.
To vote, dial toll-free 1-866-346-7655. Calls will be received until 6 p.m. Friday. The poll accepts only one call per telephone number. Results of the People Poll will be published Saturday.
Vote early and often. According to Intell editor Ray Shaw yesterday, “We have no way of reading the phone numbers of who called.” That makes this a worthless poll – as worthless as their “Hourglass Foundation Poll” on the convention center - and makes the Newspaper a liar. Please see the two boxes below. Ray Shaw, the editor of the Lancaster Intelligencer Journal, hung up on me at 3:28 p.m. today. After saying what is quoted above, he said, “It doesn’t matter.” Then he said he has no idea of the technology used. He said I was the first person to question it. He said he would have to look into it.
I asked him when I should call back and he said “tomorrow.” And then he hung up on me. This is the most disgraceful scam I have ever seen and Shaw should be fired on the spot (yeah, like that will happen)!

I just got off the phone with Ray Shaw, the editor of the Lancaster Intelligencer Journal. He said regarding the Herr/Pitts phone poll in their paper this morning, “We have no way of reading the phone numbers of who called.”
The Intell lied. Their poll says, “The poll accepts only one call per telephone number.” It’s a lie. Try blocking your number or if you have an unpublished one call. Or just repeatedly call from your published number. It’s a lie.

The Intell poll on the Herr/Pitts race today states: “The poll accepts only one call per telephone number” (see box below). I haven’t been paying close attention but this is somewhat new for their polls I believe. I would like the Intell to explain how they do this. I voted twice from the same number and my second vote seemed to be accepted.
I also blocked my number (dialing *67 first) and the call was accepted and I voted. Please explain Intell. Are you going to go back after the fact and delete multiples and “unknown” numbers? That would seem to be a major job – or maybe I’m wrong (gasp)! Please explain the technology you are using.
