EXTRA! EXTRA!
A MONTH LATE AND A STORY SHORT
It took Tom Murse of the New Era over a month to find a local connection to the fatal automobile crash identity mix-up that shook the nation. What is the point to his story, “’It doesn’t look like her’” (click here)? “‘Her face looked really swollen. It was hard for me to imagine how her face could go back to normal,’ Hess remembers. ‘But why would we think it wasn’t her?’” What a stupid, hurtful and inexplicable story. Find some news, Schreiber.
CRITICAL CONDITION
“A wedding day is supposed to be filled with love and happy memories.” It took both Janet Kelley and Ad Crable to write that incredibly tasteless and stupid opening sentence to a breaking news story about a bride and groom who were both shot on their wedding day and were both in critical condition. Hire some real reporters and writers, Schreiber.
HAWKES IS AN IDIOT
“Is it right to say Henderson left the left behind?” Jeff Hawkes, Intell, June 24, 2006 (click here). Yuck. This column is ridiculous, poorly written and a total waste of newspaper space. One sentence explains the entire point of this God-awful propaganda piece – “Democrats such as state Rep. Mike Sturla, Mayor Rick Gray and City Council member Nelson Polite have turned against Henderson for teaming up with Republican Commissioner Dick Shellenberger and trying to do everything possible to pull the plug on the convention center plan…” Good for you, Molly. Shame on you, Hawkes.
ON THE BALL
Well, we learn in today’s Intell that, “No charges to be filed in DJ/sergeant case.” This is the golf course altercation between District Judge Maynard Hamilton and Southern Regional police Sgt. Robert Buser. Is anyone surprised by this? Did anyone expect anything different to happen in Lancaster? There will be more on this story on Monday.
BANDAIDS AND AN ICE PACK
“Lancaster County Prison Warden Vincent Guarini on Thursday couldn’t immediately recall the last time the prison’s medical department was at full staff. ‘It’s been years,’ he said.” Those are the opening two sentences to Friday’s Intell article, “The Rx for prison?” (click here). Guarini has got to go. He has got to go. Why doesn’t a reporter ask Jon Eichelman what kind of medical treatment he got in the prison after his brutal assault?
NO PUBLIC MONEY
Apparently Nevin Cooley of the PSP and Ted Darcus of the LCCCA had a grueling day on Thursday. They met with editors and reporters of both the Intell and the New Era in what the New Era termed a “preemptive strike” before the two public meetings held by the County Commissioners on Thursday and Friday nights. What a disgrace. How much lower can you go, Schreiber?
ALL ABOARD!
“Like the meeting Thursday in Ephrata, the packed event turned into an emotional plea and forum to protest the project itself. The general theme of the audience protest was that no public money should fund the $139.8 million, 220,000-sqare-foot convention center and 300-room Marriott Hotel at the former Watt & Shand building.”
“Convention center still a taxing issue,” today’s Intell.
That’s exactly right. And instead of gagging Cooley, the way he would like to gag the commissioners, we’ll just put his sorry, lying butt on the next train out of Lancaster. He’s a thief. Tar and feathers, anyone?
Artie See has a guest columnist on Looking At Lancaster on the attempt by the PSP and LCCCA to gag the commissioners (click here).
PLEASE CHECK BACK ON MONDAY.
