“EASY WAY
TO CLOSE A COLD CASE”
Posted on Talkback today (click here). The quotes in the article below are from the New Era rewrite of the above Intell story, titled “How cops connected kid shooter, cop shooter.” The article did not have a byline and was not posted online.

“I believe this special edition of LIP is an indictment of the Lancaster Newspapers. This could only have happened in a town with one news outlet. A news outlet that has never questioned a thing the police have even done or said.”
“LANCASTER LYNCHING – Twenty Years Later”, LIP Special Edition, 9-2002
I really am in too much shock to write today. No, he doesn’t look like the artist’s sketch. The chin, among other items, is all wrong.
He had a similar handgun. Similar is nice but just doesn’t cut it here. “What we were able to determine,” Schuler said, “is that the bullet could have been discharged by the Taurus (handgun).” That’s nice. And how many other guns in Lancaster could have discharged the bullet?
Faust had a list of things to do with “shoot up a car” on it and it was checked off? That’s nice. One bullet doesn’t really equate to “shooting up a car,” especially if it’s on a list of things you want to do before you die. He could have shot up a car almost anywhere, anytime prior.
He drove a similar truck. That’s nice. How many Chevy Blazers are there in Lancaster County? I thought initial reports said it was green. Didn’t Eichelman have a green SUV?
“He liked to eat at Taco Bell.” Who says? Did they find any employees who recognized him as a regular customer? His mother says he was home the night of the shooting.
“If Dan Faust was alive today, I would be charging him,” Schuler said. The point is, Mr. Schuler, he’s dead and you should be fired immediately. First for totally bungling the case and making a wrong arrest, and now for this absurd scenario.
You should be fired, Mr. Schuler and the Lancaster Newspapers are a disgrace.
The Lancaster Newspapers changed a link to the John J thread (click here). If you click on my link "Do you think it's a ridiculous conspiracy?" and watch your browser window, it goes to Lancaster Online very briefly and then back to Reporter Talk. What are they hiding?
