~ Go, Lois, Go! ~
Several weeks ago, there was an ad on KYW Radio in Philadelphia. It questioned whether anyone had had a problem with their child at Abington Friends School (Quaker) and listed a phone number to call. I assumed it would be a law firm. It was not. It was an individual’s home and I left a message with a young person who answered the phone.
A woman called me back several weeks later and apologized and said they had received over 100 calls. I immediately told her I was a reporter and the reason for my call. She said she would have their attorney call me (he was just switching law firms) and he has not to date.
But apparently it has something to do with the treatment of special needs children and at one point in our conversation she said, “If they had acted in a more Quakerly fashion, I don’t think this would have happened.”
I disagreed, and I told her that I was raised all my life as a Quaker and my father molested me and my brother is a pedophile.
She said, “Oh, my God!” She was outraged. Where is the outrage in Lancaster? Why do the Quakers, the ACLU and Franklin & Marshall College continued to let Charles and Millicent Holzinger represent them?
There will be much more next week and I will continue to pursue the lawsuit against the Abington Friend’s School. (The home page of the school is here).
Herr said Pitts, who released a written statement Wednesday calling Hastert a man of “integrity” who should not resign, owes constituents in the 17th District an explanation for his support of the speaker.
“We will keep asking the questions,” Herr said during Thursday night’s Lancaster County Democratic Committee banquet at the Quality Inn and Suites in Manheim Township. “We will not let them rest.”
Lois Herr quoted in today’s Intell article, “Herr blasts Pitts for supporting Speaker Hastert,” (click here).
Good for you, Lois. As a Democrat my entire life, it is difficult for me to have the box at the top of this site regarding Mike Sturla – but he simply must go. Please note that I strongly support all of the other Democratic candidates and a list of them is here.
The Intell reporter was really working hard because he called Washington, D.C. (by the way - it's the 16th District) and says this:
Gabe Neville, Pitts’ chief of staff in Washington, D.C., said Herr took the congressman’s words out of context.
“To use (the Foley scandal) to score political points is pretty contemptible,” Neville said in a phone interview. “I’m sorry to see her stoop to this level.”
What a hoot! “Stoop to this level.” Can you say “political hack?”
Go, Lois, Go! Her home page is here.
Speaking of reporters, I was truly shocked by the lead article in yesterday’s New Era, “A SOLEMN FAREWELL,” by Jack Brubaker (click here). Yes, it’s well written and moving and you assume that Jack was there:
“Food processed by many hands filled the kitchen. The benches filled the porch and all the first-floor rooms but one. That room had been cleared of furniture except for one small bench.
On that bench in that bare room lay Naomi's body in a plain pine coffin with its hinged lid open.
A pretty little girl in a white dress, with a white prayer cap covering her dark brown hair, Naomi showed no signs of her morning of suffering three days ago.
Naomi's funeral followed ancient tradition. Several Old Order ministers delivered lengthy sermons in German, providing biblical instruction and admonition.
Well, as it turns out, Jack wasn’t there. There is this disclaimer at the end of the story:
“All of the children's funerals are private and restricted from the public and press. This account was assembled from the writer's earlier observations, with substantial aid from friends and neighbors of the Ebersols.”
This is indefensible. This is unbelievable. This is deception and his account is made up. The public deserves and should demand much better than this.
Finally, on Pat Snyder’s home page (click here), there are quotes from various people that seem to change on a random basis (before you email me, Harper, I know this site is a mess and I have no right to talk about anyone else’s), and yesterday I caught this one:
“Pat Snyder takes principled positions based on facts. When the convention center came before the school board, he made sure that corporate interests paid their fair share and the taxpayers weren’t stuck with the bill.”

A LEGACY OF ABUSE
Authorities are now reporting that Charles Carl Roberts, IV, the shooter at the Amish School, was home schooled his entire school years. They are also saying he molested female family members when they were young and he was young.
There is a reason some families “home school.” Maybe a very small percentage – but most certainly some – to keep the public unaware of what is going on in the household and keep the children away from the public for fear they will tell. Incest, cruelty, starvation or some other perversion.
And some of you don’t think I should be telling the incest story – you say it’s a personal, family matter. No, it’s not. It’s a crime. It's "worse" than other sexual molestations, if that is possible, because it's by your own parents, for God's sake. And it has ramifications that pass down from one generation to the next.
My brother is a pedophile who molested both of his brothers and possibly his own children and his own nephews and has left this continent for Africa.
The Elizabethtown Professor, Representative Mark Foley and now Roberts, were molested as children. That’s why they do what they do - and so it goes on. And it's in the news every day. And something has to be done about it - now.
Ron Harper said I should have called my mother on Mother’s Day! Never in this world. Does anyone have an understanding of how painful this is?
I will continue to tell the incest story.

“TAKING ADVANTAGE OF A TRAGEDY” IS HERE.
(Not Real - Lies!)
WE SHALL MISS THEM
In light of the latest tragedy, LIP News will not publish again today. Please keep your faith in the human spirit. Please keep all of the victims in your heart.
“Perhaps this will be a wake up call to each and every person whether a parent or lawmaker or TV producer. THE violence that ALL of us absorb each and every day has got to stop. Stop the violence in TV shows, stop the violence in schools, stop the violence with those we love. If each and every one of us STANDS UP AND SAYS ENOUGH - we can start a revolution of returning to the moral values we all cherish. Remember - a whisper can become a chorus of voices heard and respected and followed. May each and every one of us say a prayer for EVERYONE involved in today's tragedy. Now is not the time to point fingers but a time to hug one another and perform random acts of love and KINDNESS.”
Posted in the WGAL forum.
We will meet
But we shall miss them
There will be some vacant chairs
We’ll caress them as we linger
And breathe our evening prayers.
Oh, my God. Another tragedy of huge proportion. (click here).

I called the Lancaster Police Department at 11:33 this morning. A woman named “Mindy” came on the line. I asked her if the police had announced the action they were going to take in regard to the video on WGAL. She said, “Just a moment,” and put me on hold. I held for five minutes. She apologized when she came back on and said that “the information has not been released.” I asked her if it would be today and she said she didn’t know. Stay tuned….

"This is like deja vu all over again.''
Sunday News editor Marv Adams quoting Yogi Berra in his column yesterday.
It certainly is, Marv. Why wasn’t your column posted online? Scared? Here’s what I think:
Yikes! Am I being "rude?" Has the "LOL Czar" changed his name? Can you feel the "pulse?" You would "know this person BTW?" What is going on? Please check back later today...
“IS HARPER A DOG?” IS HERE!
Has He Lost Control?
~ “Cut the Crap!” ~
“She [Judy Strausbaugh of the Sunday News] said overwhelmingly they [Sunday News’ readers] wanted to know to which charities Sturla had donated his pay-raise money, information he has refused to reveal previously.
He would say only he had donated the dollars ‘in good faith to local charities.’
Sturla said he would not name the charities to the public because he doesn’t want those who accepted the money to suffer the same harassment he’s received from bloggers and people calling him at home.
‘I will take the hit on this one,’ he said.”
“Pay hike costly for Sturla in debate,” this morning’s Intell (click here).
Yes, you will take a hit, Sturla. What a load of crap! Do you think anyone believes this? “Harassment” from bloggers? What? Being in the Pacleansweep’s “Hall of Shame” and this site?
It’s harassment that I have to look at your picture every day for another 39 days until your sorry butt is voted out, Mike. That’s true harassment and I can’t wait until Election Day when I can take it down and you can find a real job.
“I wonder if Mike knows that there are increasing number of Democrats in his district who have grown weary of his ways, believe him to be arrogant in his answers about the pay raise and believe he has sold out to the big money interests in this town (who shall remain nameless) and forgotten about the working class folks in the rest of the city.”
Posted on Talkback today under the above captioned article.
Obviously, Mike doesn’t know but he’s going to find out on Election Day.
CUT THE CRAP
“Those who have not yet paid back the unconstitutional income are urged to make their checks payable directly to the state treasury and NOT to any legislative fund.
There is no excuse for continuing to be in violation of the PA Constitution. We don't care what you spent it on, it wasn't yours to spend in the first place. If you don't have the money, perhaps you can qualify for a loan at your local bank. We're not asking for interest or penalties (yet).
Cut the crap - pay it back. And prove it, too.”
From the Pacleansweep.com’s “Hall of Shame” (click here).
Bye, Mike Sturla
(Note to his opponent, Pat Snyder – please get your website up and running for heaven’s sake – (click here). I spoke to Pat Snyder by telephone two Sunday’s ago and will have a report on that shortly.)
DOES HE LIVE IN A CAVE?
Note to the County Commissioners - these days there is something called the internet and there are wonderful things known as search engines. You type someone’s name into Google and guess what? You get a ton of information.
The problem with your candidate for interim county administrator, Thomas C. LeCrone, is that he doesn’t “Google.”
He’s an “international consultant” but he doesn’t have a website? Gee, one of the only things that does “Google” for him is that he was the Treasurer of the Denver Mile High Chapter of the AITP from 1980 to 1981 (click here).
And what is the AITP? From their website they are (click here):
“The Association of Information Technology Professionals (AITP) offers opportunities for Information Technology (IT) leadership and education through partnerships with industry, government and academia. AITP provides quality IT related education, information on relevant IT issues and forums for networking with experienced peers and other IT professionals. AITP is the Information Technology professional organization of choice for providing leadership opportunities, professional development and personal growth.”
And this man doesn’t have a website?
He also must live in a cave. There’s no community involvement, he’s not on any boards, and he barely ever made the newspapers. What is going on?
I spoke with him by phone at length this Wednesday. I was not comforted by anything he said. Of his marital status, he finally said he is divorced and has one daughter. No, you can’t ask him that in an employment interview but I sure as hell can and did ask the question.
The two Pennsylvania companies he lists on his resume both went bankrupt and he was fired from one of them!
“His resume for this job is slightly over two pages long. If he were seeking a permanent post, he said, the length would run four to five pages.”
Stated about LeCrone in yesterday’s New Era article, “Questions swirl around handling of county hiring,” (click here).
Then provide this five page resume and do it now. Actually, I think it’s too late. There has to be someone better for this very important, well paying job. Someone with a solid business background and community involvement. There’s been way too much nonsense going on at the county.
Send him packing, County Commissioners.

Further, see “Breaking News” below, the second company listed (without dates) on his resume, Sci-O-Tech, Inc., is no longer in business. He claims to be a consultant who turns around companies that are losing “millions of dollars.”
He does “google” as the treasurer of the “Mile High Chapter” in Denver, Colorado (click here) for the “ailp” - but he told me he couldn’t remember what that organization was or his time as “treasurer.”

I just spoke with Thomas LeCrone at length by phone. County Commissioners, please take a very close look.
Mr. LeCrone is self-employed and the only “employee” of LeCrone Management Group. He does not have a website. He does not “google.” According to him, he only provided you, privately, with three professional references.

~ When will Abigail be eleven? ~
LIP News is two years old? Say what? I’m still having a blast! But this brings to mind five other two-year-olds who will be featured all this week. Can you guess who the cry babies are?
Our lead-off cry baby is – drum roll please - Marvelous Marv Adams, editor (and I use that term lightly) of the Sunday News!
His paper this week is nothing more than a blatant ad for the convention center. We have the front page article, “Museum picks up steam” next to “Tower of bad paper topples.” The irony, of course, is that Eng wanted to build his Tower of Babble on an unappraised onyx mine and the PSP wants to use over $100 million of the public’s money to build their white elephant.
Then we have “New pitch for preservation” with a picture of and featuring S. Dale High! The article says:
“High said a balance must be struck between development and conservation. ‘We need to create economic opportunity and preserve pristine places.’”
What a hell of a guy! Just tear the backs off those two historic houses so you can build your white elephant that won’t create any economic opportunity for anyone except the Penn Square Partners (hint – that’s you, Dale).
Then we have “Permanent injunction is sought.” There will be another hearing this week and once again we will have reports of the attentive, humorous and affable Judge Madenspacher. Has he already made his decision?
Then we have good old Art Morris with “Commissioners make a dud deal.” Another attack on the commissioners but Morris at least does say this:
“The Lancaster County Convention Center Authority continues to refuse to obtain a detailed accounting of the more than $6.5 million they have paid to Stevens & Lee, their attorney. While I strongly support the convention center/hotel project, I believe the LCCCA is failing in their fiduciary responsibility by not obtaining and publicly releasing the Stevens & Lee billing breakdown. I find their behavior indefensible.”
So - is the District Attorney, Donald Totaro, going to investigate as the three LCCCA board members have requested? What’s up with that, Marvelous Marv?
But the topper, of course, is Marv’s column “You’re kidding … aren’t you?” (click here and please read Artie See's comment under the "Talkback.") No, the question is - are you kidding, Marv? See, Marv thinks Commissioner Dick Shellenberger may run again. And Marvelous says this,
“[Shellenberger] Stood up against the Convention Center Authority and Penn Square Partners (you know the disclaimer.) He could also disclose which taxpayer he is really standing up for.”
Maybe they can put him in jail for opposing the convention center, Marv. After all, the Lancaster Newspapers already tried to gag him. How dare he stand up against the white elephant? How dare he be worried about $100 million in taxpayers' money? Book ‘em, Donald!
As always, he ends his column with his “Ten-year-old daughter Abigail.” When, oh when, will she be eleven? He reports that she calls him “The Dad.” Marv says, “It beats Daddio.”
It also beats “Cry Baby.”
Who’s our next cry baby? There are some hints above. Please check back tomorrow and thank you for reading LIP News!
What is this "person" wearing in the Lancaster Newspaper ad for their new website. Is this person wearing pants? Have you ever seen pants this "tight?"
SAY WHAT? MONDAY IS THE TWO YEAR ANNIVERSARY OF THIS WEBSITE? WHO KNEW? WHY DIDN’T SOMEONE TELL ME? WHAT WILL I DO? YIKES!
*** BREAKING NEWS ***
Whenever District Attorney Donald Totaro looks bad in the press, he announces a drug bust and Janet Kelley of the New Era goes running. Unbelievable.
I am going to switch up today – because there is simply an astonishing front page Intell article this morning, “Cornfield yields an illegal crop,” (click here – there’s even a photograph and a map)!
Let’s give a Dope Award to the Southern Regional Police.
“Whoever was cultivating those plants was giving them some TLC,” Officer Tim Ferrell is quoted as saying. Then why didn’t you leave them alone and wait for this individual to show up? You could have made an arrest!
Ferrell is obviously a genius. The article also says this about him, “He noted authorities found marijuana plants in a nearby field about a year ago and said he wasn’t aware of any arrests in that case.”
What has this idiot been smoking?
I’m taking the day off to drive around the cornfields in Conestoga. I hope the plants I find have been “properly cultivated and pollinated” – none of that throw seeds in the ground and pray for rain stuff for me.
See you (maybe) tomorrow for my revelation! Yeehaw!
“Rainey is the 18th county government department head or administrator who has resigned or has been fired since the beginning of 2004, when the present board of commissioners took office.”
“Check snafu boss is ousted” yesterday’s New Era by Cindy Stauffer and Jack Brubaker (click here).
Well, I looked up “snafu” in Merriam-Webster’s online dictionary and I can’t publish the “etymology” of the word – hint - obscenity! Wow! Who knew?
It took two New Era reporters to write a story with absolutely nothing new in it other than his resignation. Well, actually, we learned Reiney got his master’s degree from Villanova University so I guess it took one of them all day to obtain that piece of information.
Once again, there is not a word about Dave Straub, the county employee who had over 800 checks in his drawer and posted on their own newspaper forum all day long. This is simply unbelievable. Are the District Attorney and one of his county detectives still investigating? Why aren’t we told any of this information? Why haven't they interviewed Straub's co-workers and neighbors?
And, as always, Jack Brubaker tries to slant the story so the commissioners look badly. Wrong, Jack. As a poster aptly put it:
“This is one resignation that I definitely agree with. A problem of this magnitude went unnoticed for a long period of time. They really need new management and oversight.”
The two reporters also write,
“No evidence shows money is missing from the program.”
One more time – how would anyone know at this point? This is not a quote from someone – this is a “statement” by the reporters. So, have they reviewed this “evidence” and determined no money is missing? Is that why it took two reporters to write this pathetic story? Who has determined that no money is missing? This is Journalism 101.
In an ironic twist – Straub posted on the Talkback forum that he had been a journalism major in college but later had changed his course of study! There will be more at a later date.
HOW MANY LNP REPORTERS DOES IT TAKE TO WRITE A BAD STORY?
COMING LATER TODAY…

Tonight’s LCCCA meeting has been postponed – again. I try to stay on top of these things and I apologize for any misinformation. I will soon be in Lancaster and this won’t happen again. Again, there is no LCCCA meeting tonight.
LCCCA & STEVENS & LEE!
“If Totaro makes up some kind of excuse to avoid investigating these issues, he will look like he is a part of a cover-up.
However, if he truly does the RIGHT THING and investigates these serious allegations, he could be committing political suicide, since NEITHER major party is welcoming candidates who dare question the pet project of the politically powerful and well-connected.
These allegations have NOTHING to do with whether the project is built or not, or even if the project is a good idea or not. There are SEVEN MILLION taxpayer dollars involved here, and if they have been mishandled or misspent, the guilty parties need to be punished, and restitution to the taxpayers must be made.
The local media has made a LOT of noise about $288,000 in invoices to the County from Stevens and Lee that were not itemized (and were actually paid by Complete HealthCare Resources, NOT local taxpayers). These generic invoices total more than 24 times that amount!!!!!!! Doesn't this deserve at least 24 times more consideration?
Posted by Artie See under today’s Intell article, “Authority bills spark discontent” (click here).
Exactly, Artie, and that’s why a state agency needs to investigate. Totaro still hasn’t figured out if Heinke committed a crime by lying on his resume over nine months later!
The Lancaster County Convention Center Authority will meet tonight at 7:00 p.m. in the Southern Market Center. Please try to attend and support the three board members requesting the investigation. $7 million dollars – for what?
KIMMYD – HOW THE HELL ARE YOU?
Please check back later today….
HOPE ON THE VERIZON?
A wonderful man from Verizon knocked on my door yesterday! He found my grey telephone box, checked the line and declared it “dead.” A genius. I asked, “Are you going to fix it?” “No,” he said, “A technician will have to come and do that.”
Yes, for over a week I have been without the internet and have been using friend’s computers. I feel lost. The nice man said they should fix the line within 24 to 48 hours. We shall see. Please be patient.
Note to the nutjob who is emailing me – I don’t have the internet and I am not going to waste my valuable computer time corresponding with you.
Does Marv Adams realize that today is not September 11?

Never, ever, ever use MCI as your phone company. Never. I am so mad I would like to tell the president of that sorry butt company to go take a leap off a bridge.
There. I feel better now. Please be patient. LIP will not publish this Saturday or Sunday but will be back on Monday and this mess will be cleaned up.
This email in (nice to know you read LIP News and thanks for writing):
Have asked and asked T/B why it shows people called Caw Caw and The Crow to have posted, but does not show their posts.
They have now stopped showing the latest poster name, WHY WHY?
Have asked on a number of occasions but no reply to my PMs.
I have no idea what is going on either - but I will find out!. The Crow and CawCaw are the banned poster who has the smart retorts blogspot (I don’t recommend you go there). I don’t know why they can’t keep him off the board and continue to “allow” him to post but his posts can't be read (although you used to be able to click on the "Print this Topic" option under a thread and read them).
I will address changes to the board and all of this on Monday. Let me just say I did receive an email from someone claiming to be the poster I discuss in “LET”S BE REAL” below on this website. If it’s really “her,” this is one of the most notorious banned posters ever. What a hoot! BeingReal indeed!
What is Ron Harper’s involvement in this whole convoluted mess? Check back on Monday, and again, thank you for your patience.
Another day without internet access! I may lose my mind. It’s a long story and I will bore you with it later. Please be patient.
Beginning in two weeks, LIP News will be coming to you from Lancaster (gasp!) and I will be covering meetings, the courts, the DA (Hi Donald!), the police, the mayor and everything else in person. Wow!
Please check back tomorrow. Thank you.
I would like to state emphatically right here and now that I am not a graduate of the Columbia School of Journalism. I will be calling Floyd to see if he has an extra testosterone shot for Ron Harper, Jr. And Katie broke into the boy’s club! What do you know? Am I cranky? Say what? SELLING THE NEWS
“Finally, we have Marv Adams Sunday News column, “Picturing a tragedy.” Marv is desperate to impress us that newspapers are not dinosaurs. He says, ‘You hold the newspaper in your hands, a foot and a half from your face, and the images and pictures stay there.’ Hmmm. The last time I checked, yesterday’s newspaper went on a recycle pile or wrapped fish. The internet is a foot and a half from your face and the images stay there for months. Then Marv almost bemoans the fact that he claims, ‘...newspapers are held to a different standard than other media.’ Please. And then Marv tells us of his inner turmoil in running the AP’s photograph of Kara Borden at her parent’s funeral on an inside page and not the front page as most papers across this country did. And, he says, “She looked young, vulnerable and lost.” I might disagree with you there, Marv. But I’ll go on the internet and look at the photo again. Next time, put it on the front page, Marv.”
I posted this the weekend of the Borden’s funeral. So what did Marvelous Marv do this Sunday? Run the picture on the front page with an article by his wife, Helen Colwell Adams, titled “Consequences of teen sex” (click here). Shame on both Marv and Helen. What a blatant and sad way to sell papers. What happened to those high standards, Marv?
And Marv tells us again, (does he think we’re stupid?) that his wife is a divinity student. No kidding. And her lengthy, religious oriented articles are getting really old and are an embarrassment I’m not even going to discuss this article, other than I hope Colwell physically saw the emails she says this woman received from Kara Border. She never explicitly says that she did and if not, it is disgraceful journalism and could be a complete lie on the part of Pam Stenzel.
And speaking of emails and lies, the night before Marv ran Kara’s picture, I received a phone call from John Powers who has the website www.actionreport.net. If you recall, he was selling what he said were David Ludwig’s emails for $3 and I recently published on this site that he is currently running an email he says is from from Ludwig’s mother.
I’m not sure exactly what Powers wanted – I assume a retraction on my part for questioning their authenticity (click here and page down to “BRAVE NEWS?). I asked him again where he obtained the emails and he again said he had to respect his confidential source. I have never seen the David Ludwig emails he was selling and I don’t buy the latest email he says is by Ludwig’s mother. I respect him for calling me and we had an interesting conversation, but I am not making a retraction. You decide.
WILL SHE SELL?
Are you as excited about Katie Couric’s debut tonight as I am? Can you imagine the pressure? Some friends don’t think she can pull if off. They don’t think the “perky, smiley” Couric will be taken seriously. I think they might be surprised. I think she did what was necessary and required on the “Today Show” and that we might see a “new” Katie tonight. We’re about to find out and I’ll let you know what I think on Thursday.
I received several emails regarding the piece immediately below, “LET’S BE REAL” and I’ll take a look at them on Thursday. LIP News will not publish tomorrow.
Go Katie, go!
One day until Katie, Kara was on the cover and John Powers calls me. Wow! There’s a lot going on! Have a wonderful Labor Day and please check back tomorrow.
~ Common Sense ~
LET’S BE REAL!
You have two pre-school children, a part-time, very professional job you can do from home because you’re so good, a wonderful husband and a garden and a new home somewhere in Lancaster County. And because you care so much about children, you are totally concerned about women committing violence against men and these poor men who have to pay child support.
You have a story for everything. You have multiple, multiple friends who have experienced this and that and the other. Your sister owned a feral cat that had to be put down.
Your resident advisor in college thought you looked exactly like another person and even shared the same last name! Which college was that? Was it your first or second? Remember the tragic story she told of being sexually attacked in college? She had to switch colleges afterwards.
And yet, when a woman filed a complaint against a Millersville policeman she asked but what if the woman had teased him and come on to him and worn skimpy outfits around him as so many women do.
She moved to Lancaster in November but knew that Sally had suffered the loss of a loved one in Iraq in February. She knew Starling and Terri Lynn Tersak were “sisters.”
Is she a product of divorced parents or not? She seems to forget from time to time.
And she posts an average of 14 messages a day on the Lancaster Online forum. She apparently thinks it college. She studies things and allocates time to review items and posts articles from numerous other sources. She calls people “buddy” and has apparently made it the hub of her life and social life.
How does she do it all? She doesn’t folks. She doesn’t. Common sense should prevail.
And if she is so close to other posters and has become such good friends, then you meet them in person and have a “real” relationship. You don’t make excuse after excuse after excuse about how busy you are and all of your other obligations when you sit and post on a newspaper forum all day long. And if the poster won’t meet you, there’s a reason. Everything they have posted is a lie (gasp!). That’s right – a lie.
Who is watching her children?

In new survey, 74% oppose convention center project
Talkback poll shows 23 percent support the plan for Penn Square.

LANCASTER COUNTY, PA - A sizable majority of respondents in a new public opinion survey oppose the proposed hotel/convention center project in downtown Lancaster.
Nearly 74 percent of those surveyed oppose the controversial project, according to a Talkback sponsored poll reviewed this morning. Nearly 23 percent support the project.
These findings contradict the results of the recent Hourglass Foundation poll conducted on this subject.
The Talkback board polled members who have signed up electronically for the Talkback forum.
A total of 47 panelists completed one questions in the on-line survey.
The key convention center question asked: “Are you in favor of the convention center?”
The breakdown was: 74 percent oppose and 23 percent are in favor and one person voted “don’t care.”

TOTARO & CORBETT
ARE IN CONTEMPT
Two things have floored me over the last two years. And they are related. First is the Cortney Fry case and the second, District Attorney Donald Totaro’s second investigative grand jury in less than four years.
The Intell didn’t cover it. That’s correct. They didn’t even do a story. The District Attorney wants a second grand jury in less than four years because there is so much corruption and crime in Lancaster and they don’t cover it.
Totaro’s application to President Judge Farina read in part as follows:
“Examples of the criminal activity which can best be fully investigated using the resources of the Grand Jury include, but are not limited to, the following: illicit drug enterprises and related activities, racketeering as defined under the Pennsylvania Corrupt Organizations Statute, and unsolved homicides.”
The Lancaster Intelligencer Journal apparently didn’t feel this was an important enough event to cover. Shocking. Just shocking. I wrote about this previously (click here) and ran the Intell editorial from 2001 about Totaro’s first grand jury that sharply cautions their readers about this process.
So what has Totaro’s second grand jury done? Brought a murder charge against Micah Stewart, the boyfriend and now alleged killer of Cortney Fry. Everyone I speak to feels a grand jury was not necessary to bring those charges against the very, very obvious suspect in this case. And they charged three men, all currently in jail, with the murder of a man several years ago. In eighteen months, that is what the grand jury has done.
And what is Totaro’s grand jury doing now? Reportedly, investigating whether Gary Heinke committed a crime by lying on his resume. For nine months our District Attorney has been trying to figure out the answer to this question – and he needs a grand jury’s help to do so. This is disgraceful. It was not contemplated in his application to Judge Farina and what about all the illicit drug enterprises, the racketeering and the unsolved homicides he says are going to be investigated? Where are the results?
District Attorney Donald Totaro needs to be investigated.
Which bring me, of course, to yesterday and today’s articles about the state investigative grand jury wanting two more of the Lancaster Newspapers’ computers (click here for this morning’s Intell article, "LNP found in contempt by judge"). Apparently, almost every reporter at the Intell was “illegally” accessing restricted portions of the county website.
But this is ridiculous, absurd and scary. State Attorney General Tom Corbett, at Totaro’s request, has a state investigative grand jury trying to find out if the County Coroner, Dr. Kirchner, gave an Intell reporter his password to get into the site.
Is that a joke? Seriously, is this what he should be spending the state’s time and money on? Is this the most pressing criminal item in the whole state of Pennsylvania.? What possible charges could be leveled against Kirchner? Would it be a felony? What if he had the password taped to his computer and somebody wrote it down? Is that a crime?
Apparently, many people in Lancaster “illegally” accessed that site. If the county wants to keep the public and reporters out, they better come up with a better sign-in, password system than what they have. It’s laughable.
But this state grand jury investigation is not laughable. It’s scary and it needs to be stopped immediately. For once, I side with the Lancaster Newspapers. The State Attorney General and his grand jury have no right to see their computers. None.

What the Hell is v2.5?
HOW IT’S DONE!
WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?
I know some of you think I didn’t publish today because I was checking out the “best dressed” at the Emmy’s. Please – I’m only on my 14th website. I have 27 left to go. My opinions will come tomorrow…
“This issue has been resolved for now. However, this will probably happen again, as it has been since we upgraded the cp to v2.5. We are in contact with the developers, so hopefully this will be resolved soon. We are aware of when the cp becomes inaccessible, and we will always restart it as soon as we can. Thank you for your understanding and patience in this matter.”
This email in from my web host yesterday as I could not access my control panel (cp) to administer this site.
I have no clue what this email means but I know it’s not good. Please be patient. This morning the same thing happened and I could not publish. They are on the West Coast, so when I can’t publish at 6 in the morning and I send an email…
You have no idea how frustrating this is for me. I trust they will get the situation resolved very quickly. In the meantime, please be patient with my publishing schedule.
Hey, maybe I could host my site through the Lancaster Newspapers! Hmmm… probably not a good idea!
IMAGES AND TRACKING
I wanted to go back to something below on this website about the Penn Square Partners and their emails. I wondered why their emails, which are all text, bring up the AOL warning that there’s an “image “in the email and asks if you are sure you want to open it. I asked someone knowledgeable and here’s why (and thank you very much):
“The email sounds like a spam to me unless you know them. They must want you to buy so they get a commission.
Here is my take on their claims:
1. Legality: don't know. Am not a lawyer. But it's probably legal in most if not all places.
"Vertex has an email distribution program called "Listrak" and it can keep track of the following things:"
I googled it and the program exists:
1. Who opened the sent email
They send a special image with a slightly different code to each person that if it's shown will signal to the software that the person opened the email and when. However, if your email allows you to turn off images, then you can avoid this from happening as well as most of the other stuff they mention. I do for example turn off all images from my email...and wouldn't use any email system that did not allow me to shut off images by default.
If I trust the sender, I will manually allow the images to show. But that's very rare.
2. When it was opened
3. If it was forwarded through the bottom box - who forwarded it and who it was forwarded to.
Not sure what they mean by this, but if the recipient clicks a link or fills out a form that they produce online, then yes. They just need to stick in some unique code and they can track it all.
4. When the forwarded person opened it.
5. If people clicked on any links in the email - who did it, when they did it and how many times they did it.
Pretty much. But they needed the person's name before they ever sent the email. In their site they say they have special features to make sure to comply to the CAN SPAM act, which in reality just made it easier to spam legally and stopped the states from taking effective action. CAN SPAM just helped the marketers' lobby not the people.
They can pull up reports that have all this information in a very
It would be interesting to find out why the PSP goes to such an effort and expense to find out who is reading and forwarding their emails. You also might want to stop and think twice before opening that email.
WHO THE HELL ARE YOU?
These three emails in about yesterday’s story - the first one titled “Your(sic) an IDIOT”:
1. What the hell makes you think you are a criminal investigator? Who the hell are you to question anyone about a criminal investigation? What degrees in Criminal Justice do you have that qualifies you to spout your opinion on a criminal case. NOTHING-ZIP-NADA. So why don't you stick to a subject you know something about, oh sorry you don't know anything.
2. Detective Geesey does not belong in jail. He has far more integrity than you could ever dream up. He is held in high regard by many people from all walks of life. Can you say the same? You aren't given the privilege of judging other people and the work they do. You should be ashamed of your rantings. It will get you no where.
A Detective Geesey Fan
3. You can be sure if and when any of the unsolved crimes in Lancaster are solved, it will not be due to the work of Geesey. He doesn't have the gumption or possibly the ability to solve them. He seems to do nothing more than spin his wheels and run his mouth. Keep on him.
Tomorrow – DA Donald Totaro, the incest story and more…
“District Attorney Donald Totaro's office still is investigating whether Heinke committed a crime by falsifying his résumé.”

Cortney Fry (Posted 3-21-05)
Every single fact and clue in the brutal murder of this 19 year-old mother of a two-week old baby has pointed towards one person. Everything the Lancaster County Detectives have done from day one in their "investigation," with the help of the Lancaster Newspapers, is to try to point suspicion away from that one person. This is a cover-up. The murder suspect is being protected by the detectives. The detectives involved in this case need to be arrested and charged with conspiracy at the very least. The editors of the Lancaster Newspapers need to be fired and possibly charged as well.
~ There will be a detailed report here tomorrow.
(Reprinted from www.lipnews.com)
Perhaps most of you feel that statement is too strong. It can’t be, you are thinking. That couldn’t happen in Lancaster.
Yes, it could and it does. Who is the lead detective in the Cortney Fry murder? Detective Joseph Geesey. Who is the lead detective in the murder case of Lindy Biechler? Detective Joseph Geesey. Who is the lead detective in the murder case of Christy Mirack? Detective Joseph Geesey (click here).
Apparently, Detective Joseph Geesey isn’t very good at his job. So why does he still have it?
Twenty-five years ago, Detective Joseph Geesey couldn’t find three men who attempted to murder Robert Leslie Henderson by impaling him by his rectum on a “seven-inch length of three-inch-round pipe. The section in quotation marks is from the Lancaster New Era article on May1, 1981, “Man Assaulted in City, Impaled on Oil Drum Pipe.”
What the Lancaster Newspapers never reported was that the victim, Henderson previously took Detective Joseph Geesey into Federal Court for violation of his Civil Rights.
Detective Geesey and the other Lancaster Detectives never found these three men. I did - but apparently they just couldn’t.
And what I’ve heard recently, from several sources, one quite high up – is that Henderson did this to himself. That is correct. Henderson did this to himself. Why don’t you check with a doctor to see if this is possible. (Hint – it’s not.)
And Henderson gave a description of his assailants that matches identically the description of three men who tried to kill 81-year-od Daniel Rhoads five months later. They never made an arrest in that case either.
Why isn’t Detective Joseph Geesey in jail?
This mornings Intell article, Police shoot man on South Prince St.” says this, “Police Sunday night declined to name the officer involved,” (click here). That wouldn’t happen anywhere else but Lancaster. The press would be screaming for his name and print it and they should. He’s a public servant paid by the people to protect them. The Lancaster Newspapers are a disgrace to journalism and their readers. WGAL-TV is reporting the police offiicer shot the man three times.
Please check back tomorrow...
"At this point, it's premature to discuss the details of this case," Totaro said. "It's an ongoing investigation."

~ Who Rides a Harley? ~
Saturday, August 26, 2006; 8:20:56 AM
Today, I’m going to let the Talkbackers speak because they do it so much better than I ever could. And speaking about Talkbackers, where’s the follow-up on Dave Straub. We’re now up to 800 uncashed checks in his drawer.
Where’s his photograph? Where’s his background? Where’s the investigation into who at the county should be held responsible? Who should have realized he wasn’t doing a damn thing for three years?
Where is the follow-up on this story?
And regarding this absurd Hourglass Foundation “poll,” why didn’t the Lancaster Newspapers go to their go to guy, G. Terry Madonna? Huh? Why didn’t they ask their favorite pollster if this was a true random poll? Maybe because they knew the answer - or is that just too obvious? Can they go any lower?
Have a nice weekend and please check back on Monday.
Yes. If those "opinion leaders" cheerleading this boondoggle are so certain 2/3rds of the general public want it, then there should be no problem with them helping to put it on the ballot for a countywide vote.
The Lancaster Chamber have proven themselves to be quite capable of gathering signatures for the greater public good, they should continue to show their outstanding leadership skills and promote a referendum on this contentious issue!
A referendum IS NEEDED. One particular unscrupulous local politician (hint - wears a "bow tie" and rides a Harley) gathered votes while campaigning against this project, and once elected suddenly "saw the light" and embraced it as necessary for the future of Lancaster City. When 150+ million of taxpayer supplied/guaranteed dollars are involved; how do you tell when a liberal Democrat trial lawyer turned politician is lying? (His lips are moving.)
NEVER GIVEN THAT CHOICE
My main point is this: we City residents have never had a clear referendum on the convention center. In the last election, all of the endorsed candidates were pro-CC. The closest thing to a choice we had was in the mayoral race; between the incumbent who was clearly pro-CC, and the challenger who was cagey about taking a stance on the issue. We voted for change. If any message could be taken from the sweep of the Mayor’s office and City Council, it is that we wanted change. We didn’t get any. It was the best we could do. But don’t tell me that we held an election and the people have spoken on the issue of the Convention Center… we were never given that choice.
I'm starting to think there must be newspapers in Uganda that have better standards than LNP.
But then again, nobody with a 41% stake in this public mugging would skew their reporting to make the facts look different, would they?
“It's not a true random poll.” SAY WHAT?

Checks totaled more than $1.13 million.

WHERE’S THE STORY?
I have been informed, anonymously, that former county employee Dave Straub was not involved in a relationship nor living with anyone when the $1 million in uncashed checks were found in his drawer (please see “$1 MILLION IN A DRAWER” below on this site). I cannot independently confirm this information.
Which raises the huge question – where is the Lancaster Newpapers’ coverage of this? Where is it? Why aren’t they telling us who he is and where he came from and how he got his job? There were over 200 uncashed checks totaling more than $1 million dollars according to WGAL. They are also reporting cash was found and that the District Attorney’s office and a county detective are investigating. Where is the follow-up Lancaster Newspapers?
I have long thought that Straub was connected to or very close to someone at the Lancaster Newspapers. When a major water main broke and many parts of the city were without water, he knew very early that morning whether the Lancaster Newspaper offices had water or not and posted on Talkback to that effect.
Is that why the coverage has stopped? Does he know someone? Is it that he had close to 3,500 posts on their own Talkback board? Where is the coverage Lancaster Newspapers? This is a legitimate story that has people extremely interested and curious and it sells papers – and it’s their money!.
Where the hell is your coverage?
OOPS! HE DID IT AGAIN!
Where is your coverage Bernard Harris of the New Era? Yesterday he wrote, “Gray looking at new breed of special events” (click here). It covered a talk by Mayor Gray at a Lancaster Chamber of Commerce and Industry breakfast meeting. Harris does not say one word about the convention center and yet WGAL quotes Gray as saying, “Gray also said he does not like the way the project is being funded but doesn't see a way to change that at this time,” (click here).
If you don’t like the fact that the public is paying for this white elephant to the tune of over $100 million dollars, then pull the plug mayor Gray. Pull the plug.
Once again I will link to the article, “Soon Every Town in America Will Have an Unused Convention Center” – click here. Why do I “like” this so much? Because it’s from May of this year and it’s from someone in the hotel business who knows of what he speaks. It’s common sense and he has obviously seen this nonsense destroy many towns. Please pull the plug, Mayor Gray.
And where was your coverage of this Harris? You didn’t think it was important? What terrible journalism and a secret agenda. It’s a disgrace.
“Lindy Biechler’s killer should be nervous today,” Cindy Stauffer of the New Era wrote on June 16, 2006 in the article, “Probers to killer: We’re getting closer.”
It’s been over two months, Cindy. Where’s your follow-up with the District Attorney and County Detective Joseph Geesey? That’s what reporters do – follow-up. Did you think you could get a families’ hopes up this way and then pretend it never happened (please see “IT’S BEEN WAY TOO LONG” below on this site). It is this type of reporting, or lack there of, that has allowed the unsolved murders and corruption to go on in Lancaster for years.
PUT THEM IN JAIL!
There will be more on the District Attorney and County Detective Geesey tomorrow. Their behavior and the whole situation in today’s Intell article, “CEO bidding on prison job has record,” (click here), is unbelievable, pathetic, and sad for the citizens of Lancaster County. Put Totaro and Geesey in prison- and Warden Guarini too.
Also tomorrow, Ernie Schrebier and Jack Brubaker go lower than even I believed possible. Put them both on the next train out of Lancaster - after tarring and feathering them!
PUT DISTRICT ATTORNEY DONALD TOTARO AND COUNTY DETECTIVE JOSEPH GEESEY IN JAIL!
Please check back later today and see below…

INVESTIGATE THE DA
As many readers of this website know, I’ve had a box at the top of this website for almost six months. When I took it down yesterday, I had changed it that morning to read “It’s been one-hundred and seventy days since the coroner released his autopsy on Cortney Fry.” I do not have time today to discuss the charge of murder brought against her boyfriend, Micah Stewart, yesterday. I will do a lengthy story next week, which will also be the one year anniversary of the day she “disappeared” (July 20, 2004). What I will say today, and expand upon in my article, is that an outside agency needs to come in and investigate the District Attorney’s office and their investigation of this case. An alleged murderer was left on the streets for almost a year. A family was in anguish. Donald Totaro, and the County Detectives that were involved in the case, need to be removed and possibly prosecuted. More later.
