~ What Do You Really Think, Justin? ~
LOOSE LIPS…
Should Lancaster Newspaper reporters be permitted to post on the Talkback Board? Yes, as long as they use their real name. Is it a difficult road to travel? Yes. But it can be done. It must drive the reporters crazy not to be able to respond to comments.
Did Justin Quinn, using an alias because he had to, go too far? Yes. Should he have been fired? You decide. Some of his more memorable posts are below. Justin, you’re always more than welcome to write for this website – but it won’t put food on your table!
WITCH HUNT
2 charged for trespass into cops’ Web site
The difference is, the Intelligencer Journal reporters haven't been charged with anything. My question is, what makes this a front page story? If not for the coroner witch hunt, this wouldn't be front-page news at all. I hear that the UN-Intelligencer Journal and the New Error compete for news. Is this one paper sticking it to another paper just because they can?
LITTLE GIB
Challenger: Armstrong is a ‘ghost voter’
If everything is true, the campaign stuff, and now this, the arrogance of this guy is bewildering. Chilling, in fact.
REGARDLESS OF RIGHT OR WRONG
Little Gib doesn't have anything to do with the convention center. In fact, I think at one point, he said he was against it, if memory serves. This isn't about despising the guy. This is about how he conducts himself in office. If he's using his office for his own re-election bid, that's not right because you and I are paying for his staff and, it follows, his campaigning. If he's not voting when he's supposed to, that’s not right either. I don't think its as bid a deal as campaigning out of his office (because I'm sure it goes on all the time), but I think it just shows this guy is trying to do what he wants whenever he wants to do it, regardless of right or wrong.
STEWART, THE DA
& COLUMBIA POLICE
Stewart found guilty of attempted murder
Tell us big stew, what is journalism in your opinion? Do you want reporters telling you what to think? Should they only tell one side of a story: YOURS? I think reporters are supposed to report both sides of all cases. Also, nator, I don't see two endings. I see two sides of the story. The prosecution's and the defense's. I'm not the smartest guy in the world, but even I can see what he was convicted of: one count of attempted murder and three counts of aggravated assault. He was ACQUITTED of two counts of attempted murder. Logically, I think what the jury came to was this: Micah wanted to kill Zebulon, and not Damien or Shoniqua. That's why even though he was charged with three counts of attempted murder, they only found him guilty of one. But as he was trying to kill the Sweeney boy, the other two got in the way, hence the conviction of all three aggravated assault charges.
POWER-HUNGRY, POLITICAL ANIMAL
I think you have a legitimate gripe about the police in Columbia, stew, but to blame the media is just idiotic. Blame the police and thank the media for showing everybody what morons they are. I followed the stories and this Quinn guy certainly made sure they were exposed for the buffoons they are. It's apparent that the police thought Micah was responsible for Cortney’s death, so they didn't want to give him any protection. Even Cindy said in her statement that the DA wasn't going to file charges against those thugs. I believe her. This DA is a power-hungry, political animal that only cares about his future. When the cops saw an opportunity to turn up the heat on Micah, they did it. What they should have done was provide him more protection than the common suspect because the Fry case is so notorious. Quinn’s articles over the last week makes the Columbia police look like a bunch of donut eating, a$$ scratching, paycheck drawing rent-a-cops.
MISTRIAL?
Mistrial for Micah?
Aha! More is revealed! By a reporter who actually heard what happened from the voices of the jurors themselves. I can't believe this woman would open her mouth like that, then be so cavalier about it in court. People amaze me.
ONE BITE AT THE APPLE
BigStew and I don't usually agree about much, but I will agree with him that a new trial is certainly warranted. People drive me nuts. I can't believe this woman would do this. She had to know she was jeopardizing the entire case, trial, verdict, etc. Ugh. Course, this also means Micah can't be retried for the two aggravated assault counts he was acquitted of. Prosecutors only get one bite at the apple on that one.
SMOKETOWN 6
Court rebuffs ‘Smoketown 6’
Your suggestion of violence certainly explains a lot about your character, Magnus. And it speaks volumes about your intelligence. It's usually after their true colors are exposed that Neanderthal mentalities resort to violence against others much as the bully does on the playground. I guess compassion shouldn't be expected from someone who apparently doesn't even know what it is.
PILE OF CRAP
Funny thing was, I was enjoying the first amendment discussion, even from "the group of you," Magnus, until this came up. Also, I find your moniker refreshingly appropriate. The only thing that would make it a little more accurate would be if that shadow beneath the cow were a pile of crap.
