~ Eight is Enough! ~

THROW THE BUM OUT!
“This morning Sturla also commented on the $19 million in expenditures.
Sturla contended that is reason to try to save the beleaguered project.
‘As Commissioner Henderson pointed out, there has been $19 million spent on this project already. To abandon it at this point would be a disservice to everyone involved and a waste of taxpayer money,’ Sturla said.”
“$20M gap is all but closed,” New Era, 8-2-06.
Hogwash. Ridiculous. For that quote alone Representative Mike Sturla should be sent packing. Lanco Yokel says it better than I could with his piece, “The Sunk Cost Fallacy” (click here).
And why aren’t you demanding an investigation into where that $19 million in public money was spent, Sturla? Why? Why aren’t you demanding an investigation into the $6 million that was paid to Stevens & Lee by the LCCCA? Why aren’t you demanding that Stevens & Lee provide detailed invoices for that $6 million? What about the LCCCA’s $300 dollar an hour consultant, Sturla? Is the public’s money being well spent?
And you don’t seem to understand the most basic function of your “job” – representing your constituents. They don’t want the white elephant they will pay for and then continue to pay for for years. They don’t want it so why are you making a fool out of yourself by continuing to support and push as hard as you can for this wretched money loser? What’s in it for you, Sturla?
And you voted for the middle-of-the-night pay raise and you think that’s just fine. No apologies from Mike Sturla. No, sir. Apparently you needed the raise so you could give to charity. What charities did you give to, Sturla? Don’t you think your constituents would prefer to choose their own charity and how much they would like to give? Why should they turn that decision over to you? That’s not part of your “job.”
Your constituents are tired of you. Eight terms is more than enough. Your arrogance is overwhelming and you seem to feel it’s just fine and part of your “job” to help Senator Gib pass specialized legislation to directly benefit the Penn Square Partners and the LCCCA. Well, your constituents don’t think that’s what you were elected to do, Sturla.
Apparently begging for money is the only thing you’re good at. This is what the Sunday News said on March 5th, 2006, after Governor Rendell was in town: “Rendell teased Gray and Sturla about constantly having their hands out for state aid. ‘You know how if you have a dog, and it gives you that hurt look in his eyes, and you can’t say no? ... That’s Mike.’”
Charming. Eight is enough. Ninety-five days and counting, Sturla!
ONE PLUS ONE
Yes, the correct number is 95 days and it has been corrected in the box above! It was pointed out to me that my math was wrong! Yikes! Here’s my revised formula and if you find an error in my calculations, please let me know. I am counting today so there are 28 days in August, 30 in September, 31 in October and 6 in November before the grand Election Day when he is voted out - November 7, 2006. That adds up to only 95 days and counting! Oh happy day!
To help you out Sturla, I’ll soon post phone numbers for U-Haul companies, packing and moving companies and a link to monster.com. You don’t have to thank me.
DREAMLAND
Please check back tomorrow for a look at Hawkes’ today’s Intell column about Sturla, “A realist in the dreamland of Pa. reform.” Did you think you were helping him, Hawkes? Why didn’t you just put a concrete block around his neck and chuck him in the Susquehanna? What a hoot! There will also be a news round-up.
