SUE ME
(May-1-2006)
GO RIGHT AHEAD
I have some things to say today – surprise, surprise! This is my website. I own it. Anything that gets posted on this website is posted by me and me alone. My address and phone number are under the contact button on the left. If you don’t like what’s here – you can email me or you don’t have to come to this site. If Ernie Schreiber gets in a lather again, he can call me. His paper is horrendously bad. It is disgraceful. Or, Ernie can sue me as Christopher Haefner threatened to do yesterday. Go right ahead.
GET YOUR LAWYER READY
Haefner submitted an article that was printed last week by the Sunday News titled, “Silver Mine produces golden memories.” There’s only one problem – nobody involved with the Silver Mine remembers Chris. Maybe he’s just trying to sell his book? There will be more on that story coming. Get your lawyer ready, Haefner.
IT’S NOT IN THE MAIL
I also get numerous suggestions. I appreciate that. One is to date my columns, and yes, I must begin to do that and will. And then there is SCRAT, the rat’s, latest post:
“Still waiting for my royalty check for giving you the idea of starting your own news website. Although it is easy to see why a real newspaper has not kept you on staff......”
You’ll be waiting a long time and your idea was a weekly newspaper not a website - get it right. And a weekly newspaper in this day and age is a stupid idea. And as for your second charming sentence, I haven’t tried or applied to a “real newspaper” in 25 years. Part of the reason is the Lancaster Lynching story and today is the twenty-fifth anniversary of the day Robert Henderson was pounded down onto a seven inch, one inch round drain pipe of a fuel tank by his anus as retribution against a black man for taking two Lancaster detectives into federal court for violation of his civil rights. The Lancaster Newspapers know it, the District Attorney knows it and yet he has one of the officers involved working for him as a Lancaster County Detective. Unbelievable. Simply unbelievable. There will be much more on all of this shortly.
RESPIRATORY ARREST
Then there is this post regarding the death of Curtis Lee Smith who was tasered twice by police and died:
“Regardless of how cocaine is used or how frequently, a user can experience acute cardiovascular or cerebrovascular emergencies, such as a heart attack or stroke, which could result in sudden death. Cocaine-related deaths are often a result of cardiac arrest or seizure followed by respiratory arrest.”
The police should be aware of that – which means if they were suspicious he had been doing drugs and they found a white bag of a powdery substance – they should not have tasered him a second time when it was totally unnecessary. They should not have tasered him because he was handcuffed and sitting in a police car and allegedly banging his head against a window. Let me repeat that – you don’t take him out of the car and taser him again. Call the paramedics. Let him sit on the grass for a while. If the police suspected he was using drugs the police should be aware of the above medical ramifications of drug use and they should not have tasered him unnecessarily. Have they been trained in the use of tasers?
SEVEN POLICEMEN
Regarding James Sneddon who parked his van on a country lane for whatever reason – whether to do a line of cocaine or listen to music or go to sleep - he should not be dead and the District Attorney should not decide in a matter of three hours that seven police were justified in their actions that resulted in his death. It’s outrageous and I will have more on Sneddon, the DA and the West Hempfield Township police shortly.
GET A JOB
And then, Dave, a moderator of the LOL forum posted the following regarding new ads running on their site this weekend:
“You’re right, websites cost practically nothing; I mean, I work for free right? And so does the rest of my department? Since I started at the company I’ve done more than 6500 hours worth of work on LancasterOnline. If I were a consultant charging consultant rates that bill would be over “One Million Dollars!” for the past three years, and that’s just for me.”
Which begs the question: How stupid are you? Change jobs. There will be more on his insulting posts and the new advertising on Lancaster Online tomorrow. Are they, or are they not, pop-ups?
CITIZEN’S RIGHTS
“Repeated editorials have tried to make fools out of our elected officials in any way possible. Although these controversial actions warrant reasonable examination, the repetitive and persistent nature of these media attacks can leave no doubt as to their real purpose.
These actions, along with many others (such as the secrecy surrounding the LCCCA), have only served to trample the constitutional rights of all Pennsylvania residents. This pattern of repeatedly changing the law to suit the needs of an incredibly expensive special-interest project has made a mockery of due process in Lancaster City, Lancaster County, and all of Pennsylvania. Our rights as citizens will forever suffer as a result.”
The above quote is by Artie See. Please click here to read his entire article, “The true cost of the hotel and convention center project.”
PLEASE CHECK BACK TOMORROW. THANK YOU FOR READING LIP NEWS.
