~ First in a Series! ~
“I think, in a way, that if the convention center doesn’t work out, she’s concerned she won’t get the credit for stopping it. With all of her kicking and screaming and spending of taxpayers’ money on legal fees, she hasn’t accomplished a thing. She’s the best thing to happen to lawyers since the change in the divorce code.”
Mayor J. Richard Gray quoted in the Sunday News article, “Democrats take off on Henderson” (click here).
What is wrong with you, Mayor Gray? This is really just so sad. This is outrageous and crude and just down right nasty. He owes Molly Henderson and the public an apology.
People have become so disgusted with this man that they are now selling “I want my vote back” merchandise on Café Press (click here). And people are discussing whether he can be recalled. I never thought I would say this but, Charlie, I’m sorry. Can you come back?
Artie See is running an excellent series on lookingatlancaster.com, “Desperate Men do Desperate Things” (click here). The real question is why is Rick Gray so desperate? Why is he ignoring everyone except Mike Sturla, Gib Armstrong and the PSP? Why? It is an absolute disgrace, Mayor Gray. An absolute disgrace and disservice to the public who voted you into office.
“We have been informed that the Lancaster County Convention Center Authority (LCCCA) has paid more than $6 million to a single law firm for ‘professional services,’ despite receiving invoices that are devoid of any itemization whatever. When Board members or the public ask to review itemized time sheets which might explain or justify such large expenditures of public monies, they are ignored.”
Common Cause letter to Governor Edward Rendell, dated May 4, 2006 requesting a review of the LCCCA (click here).
The best thing to happen to lawyers, Mayor Gray, is the LCCCA. And of course, the law firm discussed above is Stevens & Lee who made the front page of today’s Intell in the ridiculous article, “Law firm takes aim at county officials” (click here). Why does a stupid letter from a Philadelphia law firm make the front page and how did the Intell find out about it? Gee, from the law firm that wrote it, do you suppose? The article says:
“Sprague’s letter to the commissioners does not state that Stevens & Lee plans to sue the county. It calls for the commissioners to ‘immediately retract those false allegations you have made about Stevens & Lee’s involvement in such matters as the Conestoga View sale.’ The letter then states, ‘Your failure to immediately do so will be deemed a refusal to mitigate the damages and harm caused by your actions.’”
What a load of crap. Maybe the law firm will write Common Cause a letter as well. Maybe they’ll write me a letter. Maybe they’ll write Artie See a letter. Oh boy! I’m really scared!
Is the law firm of Sprague & Sprague nuts? Have they heard of freedom of speech? And for once I like something Pete Shaub says, and I am assuming it is entirely tongue in cheek. When told of the letter he is quoted as saying, “I immediately retract my statement.” When asked what statement he said, “Whatever statements caused (Sprague) to write this letter.”
What a hoot! I agree, Pete. I immediately retract any statement that I have ever made on this website that might have “damaged” or “harmed” anyone and on top of that I apologize – not! Sprague & Sprague better be careful or they are going to take the fall with Stevens & Lee. Ridiculous.
Tomorrow – more super jerks including Marvelous Marv, Ron Harper and the original super jerk himself, the LOL Boss! Wow!
Also coming soon is an article by none other than the author of the award winning book - “Luckee’s Elbow Room” - Mac Rutherford, himself! Hey – that book didn’t win any awards! Mac, what are you talking about? Hey….
